The fractional laser treatments can be performed at different levels. Treatment results and recovery times are dependent on the level decided upon. Variables that are considered when making that decision will be skin type, results desired, amount of down time one can tolerate, and budget.

What’s the difference between traditional and lite fractional laser? Are pain and relaxation meds given/needed with both? Down time difference? Can you have an entire face done or just certain areas?

Hi Dwane,

Freezing is a common, however, not always the most effective treatment for what sounds like precancerous, or AK’s (actinic keratosis).

Investigate a treatment using a product called Levulan (delta aminolevulinic acid) with PDT (photo dynamic therapy) or there are topical perscriptions that are applied over a period of time—fluorouracil (5-FU), imiquimod cream to name a couple.

These treatments are very effective. Your provider will be familiar with these treatment modalities.

Is there any chance the House Calls talk from March 25 would be available for viewing at a later date? I was not able to get home in time to watch and would like to hear what the doctor said about skin care products.
