What is the difference between an Fraxel Laser treatment and an intense pulse light session? What does the Fraxel cost?

    • SkinMedic says:

      Hey Jennifer,

Basically, the fractional laser is a co2 laser which will address tightening, pigment, and pore/scar improvement. IPL, or photofacial, uses pulsed light to address pigment, vascular or reddness problems, does impact pore size, and does encourage collagen production. The fractional lasers will provide more tightening. There is downtime with the co2 lasers, and probably not (although there can be) with the IPL’s.

IPL’s or photofacials are $375 for the face, add the neck for 150. Chests are 375. IPL’s initially are sold in a series or 5. Prepayment can save you 15%.

Fractional laser is $1000 for the face, $1000 for the neck or $500 if done at time of face. Chest is $1000, hands $500.

Other popular treated areas are the arms, back, and legs.

  2. Dwane Laymon says:

Wondering what can be done with facial sun damage, I’m having nitrogen freezing every 6 months and the same areas keep coming back time after time – about 15 years now.

    • SkinMedic says:

      Hi Dwane,

Freezing is a common, however, not always the most effective treatment for what sounds like precancerous, or AK’s (actinic keratosis).

Investigate a treatment using a product called Levulan (delta aminolevulinic acid) with PDT (photo dynamic therapy) or there are topical perscriptions that are applied over a period of time—fluorouracil (5-FU), imiquimod cream to name a couple.

These treatments are very effective. Your provider will be familiar with these treatment modalities.

If you have other questions or would like an individual consultation, please call our office – 918-587-7546.

      Good luck to you!
